Personal Information Gathered by Foodsherpa

Foodsherpa endeavors to facilitate your use of our site and to provide you with personalized services, interactive communications and online shopping ease.  In order to better serve you, Foodsherpa collects three types of information: (1) Information You Provide, (2) Information Automatically Collected and (3) E-mail Communications.  We will not collect information about consumers who browse this website, except as set forth below, without notifying you.

1. Information You Provide.

Personally identifiable information is collected by Foodsherpa each time a user opens an account and/or books a service.  Personally identifiable information includes your name, address, email address, telephone number, credit card information or other similar account information, passwords and any other information that you may volunteer.  Foodsherpa also may collect the personally identifiable information of third parties who are the recipients of our services.  We use a third party payment processing vendor and will not store your credit card information.

2. Automatically Collected Information.

Each time you access our website, we receive and store domain name information in order to gather broad demographic information which helps us to analyze trends, administer the site, and track movement.  Domain names are not linked to personally identifiable information; for example, our web server automatically recognizes our consumers’ domain names but not the personal e-mail addresses of our consumers.  In addition, certain information regarding your use of Foodsherpa may be collected via “cookies”.  “Cookies” are text files used for authenticating, session tracking (for purposes of site maintenance) and for remembering user information, such as site preferences and the contents of each customer’s electronic shopping cart.  This information may include the frequency of your visits to the site, the areas of Foodsherpa you visit most frequently, your preferences with respect to those areas, and certain session information (such as the items added to your shopping cart).  Foodsherpa does not use “cookies” to collect personally identifiable information from our users.  You may reject a “cookie” and still use Foodsherpa.

3. E-Mail Communications.

Foodsherpa collects the e-mail address of each individual who communicates with us via e-mail and who posts information to our website.  In addition, we are able to see and collect, in the aggregate, which websites are accessed by our customers immediately prior to and following a visit to  We also collect information that is provided by our customers, such as information entered by users choosing to participate in a survey or in one of Foodsherpa’s featured services (for example, Foodsherpa’s reminder requests).

Use of the Personally Identifiable Information

We want to be sure that we keep only the most accurate and up-to-date information about each of our customers in our records.  Therefore, whenever you believe that your contact information should be updated, please e-mail us to request that we correct or update your contact information.

The personally identifiable information we gather may be used by Foodsherpa in the ordinary course of business.  Examples of usage include: (1) fulfilling your request for a product, service, or other related information; (2) improving the content of our website; (3) customizing the content of our website; (4) notifying you about updates to our website; and (5) contacting you for marketing purposes.  The information collected during the registration process, or otherwise volunteered by you on our website, may be used by Foodsherpa to better serve you by customizing our product offerings and providing you with information about new products and/or special offers.

If you purchase a product or service through Foodsherpa, we will ask for your credit card or other account information, which will be provided to our payment processing vendors in order to process credit card payments and perform related payment functions. We do not give out your credit card or other account information to unaffiliated third parties without your permission unless it is necessary to fulfill our responsibilities, including, but not limited to, delivering a product or service.   When applicable, personally identifiable information (including, but not limited to, credit card and other account information) may be shared with agents or independent contractors who assist in providing support for our internal operations.

At all times, Foodsherpa reserves the right to disclose the personally identifiable information of our customers where required by law or in order to comply with valid legal process (including, for example, a search warrant, subpoena, or court order), to protect the company's rights or property (including, without limitation, in the event of a transfer of control of Foodsherpa or substantially all of its assets, at which time, if permissible under the terms of any agreements governing such change of control or transfer of assets, Foodsherpa will post a notice on its website), or to protect against harm (such as during an emergency or when safety is at risk).

Limiting the Use of Your Personally Identifiable Information

Changes to Our Privacy Policy

We may revise this Privacy Policy from time to time and will post our new Privacy Policy, along with a notice of such revisions, to our homepage.  If we plan to use customer information for new uses not previously disclosed in our Privacy Policy, we will post the policy changes to our website in order to notify you of these changes.
