The Thursday Drink Night theme last night was Mandarine Napoléon, a cognac based tangerine liqueur that has been compared to Grand Marnier, but brighter and cleaner. The original recipe was indeed formulated for Napoleon in 1802, although it was not bottled commercially until 1892. We were joined by the master distiller from Holland, who mentioned that cloves were part of the formulation. Tasty stuff, and definitely worth seeking out!
